Resident Evil 7 Guides: Use Psychostimulants and never miss an item

Resident Evil 7 is available now and since we’ve had our hands on it for a while, we’ve put together some quick guides to help you out if you get stuck, need some help or to just give you or tips on how to get the best from the game.

A word of warning though, these guides are like to contain SPOILERS, so if you’ve yet to play or finish the game you might be best holding off. If you’re not one to worry too much, keep on reading.

Throughout Resident Evil 7 there are a tonne of items and collectibles to be found. Ammo, herbs, Chem Fluid, crafting items, Antique Coins and Mr Everywhere are hiding in every nook and cranny, begging to be sought out.

Obviously finding these items and collectibles is necessary, but why follow a guide and slowly plod around the game finding each thing one by one when we have a much simpler and faster way.

As you play through the story, you’ll clear out each section of the Baker Estate and upon doing so will be able to wander around freely without any threats. It’s at this point that you’ll need to find a save point in the area you’d like to search and save.

Take a Psychostimulant (if you have one and if not find or craft one) and quickly scour the area nearby to find any and all items. Once you’ve done so, simply reload from the save file you just made and go back around to collect all the items you uncovered.

That way, you’ve still got you Psychostimulant to use again at another location and you won’t miss anything.

All usable items like herbs and ammo etc will appear as a hollow waypoint, while Antique Coins and My. Everywhere will be a solid one. In Normal Mode there are 18 Antique Coins to find and in Madhouse Mode there are 33. There are 20 Mr Everywheres in total.

There are a couple of points of no return to be aware of too so be aware of the following events;

  • After you’ve completed the Party Room as Ethan you’ll head down the docks and create the serum. Once you’ve taken the serum from Zoe you’ll be grabbed by Mutated Jack and forced to fight. You can not proceed back to the Baker House, Old House or Testing Area after this fight.
  • After you defeat Mia on the Wrecked Ship and head into the swamp you’ll not be able to re-enter the ship. Make sure you clear the entire ship as Mia and/or Ethan before you head to level S2 and fight Mia.
  • Afer you’ve climbed a small ramp in the Salt Mine, just after you discover the radio room, you’ll need to drop down to proceed forward. Just after you drop down is a fight with two Fat Molded and you won’t be able to go back if you’ve made it this far. Make sure you’ve checked the entire Salt Mine before moving on.
