Zion Williamson is NBA 2K21’s next-gen cover star

The second of NBA 2K21’s cover stars has been revealed. Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans is the cover star for NBA 2K21 on next-gen consoles; PS5 and Xbox Series X. Williamson was 2019’s number one overall pick, 2019 National College Player of the Year and is the first teenager in NBA history to score more than 20 points in 10 straight games.

Williamson joins Damian Lillard as NBA 2K21 cover stars, with one final star still to be announced. Calling the opportunity “a dream,” Williamson said “to be the first NBA 2K21 cover athlete for the next-generation of gaming is really special.”

2K said, “For the cover of the next-generation version of NBA 2K21, we wanted to find someone who could represent the next-generation of NBA superstar. Zion is one of the few young players who has met the hype and can be considered a standard bearer for the next generation. We’re thrilled that he is representing the 2K21.”

Williamson added;

Since the day I joined Team 2K, I’ve wanted to make an impact on basketball culture both on and off the court, and being the cover athlete for NBA 2K21 on next-gen consoles lets me do that. I can’t wait to be part of this global phenomenon and hoop with all the ballers out there on NBA 2K21.

Like Lillard, Williamson has partnered with 2K Foundations to renovate a site in New Orleans for the local community.

The third and final cover star for NBA 2K21 will be unveiled tomorrow in addition to the announcement of the release date and more information about the game.
