New Legends of Runeterra region Bilgewater introduces pirates and new keyword Plunder

Riot Games has announced Bilgewater as the next region to join Legends of Runeterra. Joining the game at launch, April 30, Bilgewater introduces new champions, new followers, spells and a new keyword; Plunder. Plunder won’t just apply to Bilgewater, however, cards from that region have been showcased so far.

According to Riot;

Bilgewater is a port city like no other—home to serpent hunters, dock gangs, and smugglers from across the known world. Here, fortunes are made and ambitions shattered in the blink of an eye. For those fleeing justice, debt, or persecution, Bilgewater can be a place of new beginnings, for no one on these twisted streets cares about your past.

Even so, with each new dawn, careless travellers can always be found floating in the harbour, their purses empty and their throats slit…

With the announcement of Bilgewater coming to Legends of Runeterra, some cards from the region have been revealed, however, no Champions have been announced so far.

Legends of Runeterra Bilgewater

Five cards from Bilgewater have been revealed and you can see them in the gallery above. They include the new Plunder mechanic which triggers a character’s ability when played if you damaged the enemy Nexus that turn.

Essentially, deal damage to the enemy Nexus and then play charaters with Plunder to gain the effect.

Aside from the four Bilgewater cards, four Freljord cards with Plunder have been revealed.

It’s known that more than 120 cards are being added to Legends of Runeterra at launch on April 30. Some of these cards have been revealed, including new champions;

  • Demacia – Quinn
  • Freljord – Sejuani
  • Ionia – Lee Sin
  • Noxus – Swain
  • Piltover and Zaun – Vi
  • Shadow Isles – Maokai

The champions for Bilgewater are unknown, though data miners have discovered voice lines for a bunch of new champions. These include Gangplank, Fizz, Miss Fortune, Nautilus, Tahm Kench and Twisted Fate.

Cards revealed so far for release at launch include those in the gallery below.

Legends of Runeterra is in open beta and will launch on PC and Mobile in all regions on April 30, 2020.
