Nathan ‘Fel Peon U’ Edward Basser claims title of first-ever Australian Red Bull Solo Q National Champion

Last weekend, Nathan ‘Fel Peon U’ Edward Basser became Oceania’s (and Australia’s) first-ever Red Bull Solo Q national champion. He did so in style, in a 3-0 sweep of his competition. Red Bull Solo Q is the official 1v1 League of Legends tournament.

The national competition had been ongoing for three weeks prior to the finals and Saturday’s competition saw 16 finalists battle for prizes including a place in the Chiefs Esports Club’s Academy Program, coaching and the opportunity to represent Australia at the Solo Q world championships.

Over 450 players entered the Red Bull Solo Q and Basser stood victorious over them all.

In his climb to the top, Basser had lost a match in each of the best of three series he’d played prior to the final, however, he managed to sweep runner up Joel ‘Randomact’ Skewes. In Red Bull Solo Q, players need to accumulate the most points through eliminating their opponent first, reaching 100 minion score or by destroying the enemy tower.

Basser will now enjoy a spot at the Chiefs ESC Academy Program which will see him given fortnightly coaching for the next three months. This coaching will attempt to prepare Basser for the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals which will see over 35 countries’ representatives competing for glory.

The winner of the Red Bull Solo Q World Finals will have the chance to attend the 2020 League of Legends All-Star Event (provided travel restrictions permit) and will take part in the year-end celebration of League of Legends.

Congratulations to Nathan for taking the win and best of luck at the World Finals.
