Logitech and McLaren partner for the third annual G Challenge on Project Cars 2

The sim racing esports scene continues to thrive in 2020, with Logitech and McLaren partnering for the third annual G Challenge, set to take place on Project Cars 2. Online qualifiers will run in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, giving players all across the world the chance to win.

Two seasons of competition will run from June through to August, with a new track each week to race in a time trial each week. The fastest racers from each region will then move on to online quarter finals.

Each region will run separately with its own finals competition, with the top three racers from each division progressing to the global finals.

The overall winner will receive a tour of the McLaren Technology Centre, as well as coaching from McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris, the chance to drive a McLaren supercar and VIP tickets to next year’s British Grand Prix.

“Over the last few months, we’ve seen an explosion in eracing,” Logitech’s Jim Hoey said.

“It’s clear that the line between virtual and real racing has been blurred, and now more than ever people everywhere have access to an incredible racing experience.

“With the Logitech McLaren G Challenge 2020, we’ve upped the ante. The season has been extended to include even more adrenaline-fueled racing, and the drivers will be battling for bigger prizes. We can’t wait to get started.”

“The Logitech McLaren G Challenge 2020 is an incredibly exciting step forward in our successful partnership with Logitech G” said Mark Waller, Managing Director of Sales & Marketing at McLaren Racing.

“G Challenge will continue providing McLaren and Logitech G with a powerful way to connect with our fans and enable more gamers from around the world to share their passion for racing and test their driving skills.”

Joe Barron, marketing and esports manager from Project Cars 2 developer Slightly Mad Studios, said the competition will be a potential stepping stone for new sim racers.

“This is our third year working on the G Challenge with Logitech and we can’t wait for the green flag,” Barron said.

“Previous years have been closely fought, epic contests, which helped us to discover some of the very best new talent in the racing esports community. 2020 will see new faces going up against established names, and with such a great prize at stake the drivers will be pushing very hard indeed.”

The competition starts on June 1st, 2020. To register for the competition, you’ll need a Challonge account, which you can get here.
