Overwatch Hero 32 Echo is now available on all platforms

The 32nd hero to join Overwatch, Echo, is now available on all platforms, Blizzard announced today. According to Overwatch lore, “Echo is an evolutionary robot programmed with a rapidly adapting artificial intelligence, versatile enough to fill multiple battlefield combat roles.”

While Echo has her own set of abilities, her Ultimate allows her to copy an enemy hero and gain the use of their abilities. This makes Echo an incredibly disruptive and powerful hero with the ability to really help shift the tide of battle.

When not duplicating an enemy hero, Echo uses her primary, Tri-Shot, to fire three projectiles at once in a triangular pattern. She can also launch sticky bombs, fly freely around the map, use a high-powered beam and passively glides as she falls to the ground.

Overwatch Echo

Echo was based in Switzerland and was created by Dr. Mina Liao, one of the founding members of Overwatch.

Dr. Liao was widely considered one of the preeminent experts in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence, and an employee of Omnica Corporation. There she worked on the team that was responsible for the design and creation of the omnics that would ultimately wage war against humanity during the Omnic Crisis.

Ultimately, it was this expertise that led her to be recruited into Overwatch to help stop her creations.

With Echo assisting Overwatch against the Null Sector incursion in Paris, she is now a full-fledged member of the team.

In addition to Echo being available in Overwatch, Blizzard has launched a new, special Competitive Mode; Competitive Open Queue. Found within the Arcade, Competitive Open Queue wi be available for four weeks and will use standard Competitive rules.

This includes hero pools and one hero limit, however, there are no role restrictions or role queues for the Competitive Open Queue.

If you’re keen to give Echo or the Competitive Open Queue a try, log on to Overwatch today.
