The Sinking City launches on Switch this week

Frogwares has announced that The Sinking City will be coming to Switch this week. The Lovecraft inspired, Cthulhu-esque action-adventure is coming to Switch as a digital-only title. The Sinking City stars Charles Reed, a detective from Boston, invited to the reclusive town of Oakmont to investigate his own nightmares and visions.

The Sinking City has a strong emphasis on investigations and detective work and gives players a range of options when solving cases. Players are able to turn off all waypoints and hints so that they rely only on their own wits.

It makes things a lot more immersive, but if it gets too difficult, players can change the difficulty on the fly.

Sergey Oganesyan, Communications Manager for Frogwares said;

We initially wanted to do a physical release – we know lots of players prefer these – but we were eventually forced to put this off for now. We didn’t want to take too long to release the game on the Nintendo Switch, but going into the logistics and distribution of physical editions would push the release back by months.

Frogwares is self-publishing this version but we’re not a big company and don’t have the resources to handle such a complex process ourselves. So, we’re focusing on the digital release first and might release a physical edition later

The Switch version of The Sinking City is more than a straight port too. Frogwares has worked hard to tweak and improve the game based on player feedback.

It runs at 30fps throughout and the combat has been improved so that it feels weightier. Weapons have been upgraded with new sound effects, improved recoil and better visual feedback.

Finally, The Sinking City Switch allows for gyro controlled aiming.

The Sinking City will be available on Switch on September 12, 2019.
