Meet Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2’s fifth and final Vampire clan

Paradox Interactive has lifted the veil on the fifth and final full-blood Vampire clan in Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2. Malkavian, also known as Clan of the Moon have acquired knowledge that no other clan has, however this knowledge has come at a terrible price.

Of the five playable clans at launch, Malkavian members are susceptible to psychosis and compulsivity.

They’ve long been ostracised by the Seattle Kindreds, however, some see their abilities as exceptional and consider Malkavian as Oracles.

Malkavian clan members use Dementation and Auspex to both invade the mind of a victim and expand their own senses beyond normal limits.

Neither of these abilities is a Masquerade Violation, even though Dementation is incredibly unsettling and unpleasant. The skills are detailed as follows;

  • Dementation
    • Haunt – Imparts an unseen spectre in the minds of victims. Unable to control themselves, they’ll try to flee in a panic.
    • Berserk – Fills the vampire’s targets with an uncontrollable rage, causing them to lash out at anything nearby – even the air itself, if no better target is available.
  • Auspex
    • Aura Sense – Allows the vampire to spot NPCs through walls, read crowds at a glance, and mark individuals, staying aware of them even over long distances. It also reveals the weaknesses of a marked NPC.
    • Psychic Projection – Forces the vampire’s mind from their body, allowing it to explore the area in astral form and use Aura Sight to mark any character they spot. The vampire’s senses have developed to such an extent that they may end up telepathically overwhelming the senses of others for a short while.

Like Bloodline, in the sequel, choosing to play as a Malkavian will ensure that you’re treated differently by NPCs. Different dialogue options will become available that other clans won’t have access to.

While Bloodlines 2 won’t be released until 2020, a gameplay reveal is set for June 10/11 which will show gameplay for the very first time.
