Randy Pitchford says if Valve announces Half Life 3 he’ll try to release Borderlands 3 on Steam as soon as possible

It was announced today that Borderlands 3 on PC will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store for six months. At launch, in September, PC players will be forced to use Epic’s storefront until April 2020 when Borderlands 3 will be released on Steam and other digital stores.

In the wake of all the excitement and hype of the announcements for Borderlands 3, Gearbox President and CEO Randy Pitchford has taken to Twitter with his take on releasing Borderlands 3 on Steam.

In his own words, he says that his tweet is “crazy” but you have to think that there’s at least some truth to what he says, even though it’s not likely to be a situation that;

  • A – will happen and
  • B – is within Pitchford’s control

Half-Life 3 Confirmed?

I say that the way Borderlands 3 is released is outside of Pitchford’s control as he said the very same thing in a series of tweets himself. Pitchford tweeted about the release of Borderlands 3 in the wake of the rumours that it would be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. This has now been confirmed.

You can read Pitchford’s tweet below but basically, he says that if Valve announces Half-Life 3, he will use his influence to have Borderlands 3 released on Steam as soon as possible.

Some fans are upset that Borderlands 3 will be a timed exclusive for the Epic Games Store, though from what Pitchford has publicly said, it seems as though the call was made by 2K.

Borderlands 3 will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on September 13, 2019.
