Borderlands 3 might be released on September 13, exclusively on the Epic Game Store for PC

Two deleted tweets from the official Borderlands account might have spilled the beans on Borderlands 3‘s release date. One tweet announced the release date as September 13 while revealing that pre-orders would be given a special Gold Weapons pack.

Another tweet, screenshotted by Wario64, included a pre-order video that showed the Epic Game Store logo. We’ve embedded the video below and in it, you can see the Epic Game Store logo clearly in the bottom left corner alongside 2K’s and Gearbox’s logos.

Interestingly, there is no Steam logo in sight. By the same token, the PS4 and Xbox One logos are both absent as well.

Borderlands 3 Epic Game Store

We know that more information about Borderlands 3, including the release date, will be revealed on April 3, so maybe some over-eager intern accidentally hit the button early.

While we assume that Borderlands 3 will be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, no platforms have been announced. The video above does somewhat confirm a PC release, thanks to the Epic Game Store logo, but until anything is officially revealed we’re hesitant to call it fact.

If Borderlands 3 is exclusive to the Epic Game Store on PC, it would be the highest profile title to ditch Steam in favour of  Epic’s platform. Other games that have released on the platform rather than Steam in recent times include Metro Exodus, The Outer Worlds, Control, The Sinking City and more.

Borderlands 3 was officially announced at PAX East with Randy Pitchford promising more details on April 3.

Now we play the waiting game.
