Heartstone’s latest expansion, Rastakhan’s Rumble is now live

The day has finally arrived, Rastakhan’s Rumble is now live in Hearthstone. The latest expansion to Blizzard’s wildly popular collectable card game adds 135 new cards, all-new mechanics and keywords and a brand new single-player experience.

Rastakhan’s Rumble features Azeroth’s trolls coming together for the ultimate competitive showdown. Nine teams, each led by a Legendary Troll Champion will battle for supremacy.

Each of the nine Troll Champions represents one of Hearthstone’s classes and will be bolstered by their Loa; “ancient spirits venerated by the trolls that have manifested themselves as Legendary minions.”

Rastakhan’s Rumble

New to Hearthstone with Rastakhan’s Rumble are the Spirit and Overkill mechanics and keywords.

Spirits can be played by class-specific minions which synergise with the legendary Loa. For example, on opening some card packs I received Halazzi, the Lynx and the Spirit of the Lynx. Halazzi’s Battlecry is “Fill your hand with 1/1 Lynxes that have Rush” and the Spirit of the Lynx has Stealth for 1 turn. The Spirit of the Lynx card also reads “Whenever you summon a Beast give it +1/+1.”

Playing this Loa and Spirit together creates a powerful synergy that would see a board filled with 2/2 Lynxes with Rush.

Overkill, on the other hand, grants special bonuses when you do damage beyond the health of your target. For example, Ironhide Direhorn summons a 5/5 Ironhide Runt whenever it deals excess damage. Being a 7/7 Beast, there’s every chance it will deal excess damage regularly.

There are plenty of examples of Overkill cards in Rastakhan’s Rumble, which will surely create some awesome new synergies.

Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!

President of Blizzard J. Allen Brack said of the new expansion;

We’re excited to have Hearthstone players around the world step into the ring today to test their might in Rastakhan’s Rumble. The Gurubashi Arena has seen countless fights over the years, but nothing like what’s about to unfold—we can’t wait to see the fiercely creative decks players bring to the battlefield

Not available today, but coming in two weeks is the Rumble Run. From December 14, players will enter the arena as a troll gladiator named Rikkar who’ll side with one of the nine teams in the hopes of glory.

Not much is known about Rumble Run at this stage, however, it’s likely to be similar to Dungeon Run and Monster Hunt.

To celebrate the launch of Rastakhan’s Rumble, all players who log-in for a limited time will be given six free card packs, a random Legendary Loa minion and two copies of the Spirit Minion from the same class.

Rastakhan’s Rumble is live now.
