Star Wars The Roleplaying Game 30th-anniversary edition released

30-years ago and 10-years after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope, West End Games released Star Wars The Roleplaying Game. Star Wars The Roleplaying Game featured a game system that allowed countless players and GMs to venture into the rich universe they had seen in the movies and to tell stories that complimented and enhanced the movie experience.

The accompanying Star Wars sourcebook provided players with a lot of new information about the technology of the Star Wars universe. This was information that had never been published before.

Needless to say, fans were thrilled to find details and diagrams for X-Wings and lightsabres, droids and aliens.

Star Wars The Roleplaying Game

A lot of the information included in Star Wars The Roleplaying Game went on to inspire writers of the Star Wars extended universe. Some of this material even became canon, including race names like the Twi’lek, Rodians, and Quarren.

Now, Fantasy Flight Games is bringing fans a slick looking, collectable, 30th-anniversary edition. This special 30th-anniversary edition includes the two original books; Star Wars The Roleplaying Game and the Star Wars Sourcebook

Both volumes come together in a slipcover adorned classic art from the original trilogy.

The Star Wars The Roleplaying Game core rulebook contains all the information needed for players and GM’s to get the game rolling.

It includes an introductory adventure and plenty of inspiration for creating new journeys for players to embark upon. The Star Wars Sourcebook is 144 pages and 15 chapters of stats, schematics and other details of all sorts of ships, gear, creatures, heroes and villains.

According to Fantasy Flight Games;

Star Wars The Roleplaying Game 30th Anniversary Edition features an award-winning roleplaying system developed over thirty years ago. Using twenty-four character templates and a handful of six-sided dice, the system was praised for its intuitiveness and flexibility.

If you’re a fan of classic tabletop RPGs and/or Star Wars this would definitely be worth checking out. The 30th-anniversary edition of Star Wars The Roleplaying Game is available now from Fantasy Flight Games and will set you back $59.95USD plus postage.

Games have always been a big part of my life in all types of formats. I'm just as happy with a deck of cards or a bunch of miniatures as I am with a keyboard and mouse or controller. Any game where there is a little teamwork happening is usually going be my favourite. I'm very partial to a good RTS, RPG or FPS session with friends, a beer and some decent music.
