GTA Online and Red Dead Online are celebrating their success by giving players rewards

Rockstar is giving away in-game rewards and bonuses to players of both GTA Online and Red Dead Online. Both games enjoyed enormous success over the holiday period with GTA Online breaking records and Red Dead Online enjoying its healthiest player population yet. Grand Theft Auto V’s online mode continues to go from strength to strength, long after the game’s release and while Red Dead Online struggled at first, it seems to be picking up steam.

In July and August 2019, following the release of the Diamond Casino and Resort in GTA Online, the daily, weekly and monthly average player numbers were higher than ever. When Rockstar added the Diamond Casino Heist, giving players the option to work together on an almighty gamble, the number of players was even greater than in July and August.

With those two content releases, December 2019 was GTA Online’sbiggest ever month.

GTA Online & Red Dead Online

In Red Dead Online, the game moved out of beta in 2019 and Rockstar says it;

Began to forge its own path to becoming a dynamic online world as we optimized animation speeds and controls for better PvP combat, added anti-griefing measures, infused additional life into the world with new Free Roam activities, and introduced the Outlaw Pass for a whole new system of rewards and improved progress.

As the year went on, players had even more reasons to immerse themselves in the world and their characters with the introduction of the first four of many Frontier Pursuits – The Bounty Hunter, Trader, Collector and Moonshiner – allowing players to progress through multiple roles simultaneously while earning new role-specific skills, clothing, weapons and other items along the way.

With the content drops, changes made to the game and incremental updates, Red Dead Online saw a peak in player numbers in December. This coincided with the release of the Moonshiners update and saw January top December’s numbers.

As a way of saying thanks to all the players who helped break these records, Rockstar is giving away the following in-game items;

  • GTA$2,000,000
  • The Gunslinger’s Cache in Red Dead Online
    • Free Schofield Revolver
    • Free Varmint Rifle
    • Devastating Ammo Bundle, which includes
      • 100x Split Point Revolver Ammo
      • 100x High Velocity Pistol Ammo
      • 100x Express Repeater Ammo
      • 100x Slug Shotgun Ammo
      • 20x Explosive Rifle Ammo
  • Bounty Hunter’s Kit in Red Dead Online
    • Free Bounty Hunter license
    • 25x Bolas
    • 25x Tracking Arrows

To earn the GTA$2,000,000, players will need to login and play within two time periods, each earning GTA$1,000,000 apiece. Players will need to first play before February 5 and then between February 6 and 12.

To earn the Red Dead Online rewards, players need to play between January 26 and February 3 and February 4 and 10. The first time period will grant access to the Gunslinger’s Cache and the second to the Bounty Hunter’s Kit.

Rockstar has said that 2020 will be packed with more content for both titles.

Next up for GTA Online is the addition of an open wheel racing series featuring all new vehicle types – with tense, high speed, track-based racing where tight cornering, tactical tire choices and perfectly timed pit stops make every second count. Plus, expect more big updates and a few surprises as we move forward into the year.

The world of Red Dead Online will also continue to grow in 2020 as we expand the concept of Frontier Pursuits with additional roles, new missions and many more significant updates to come.

GTA Online and Red Dead Online are available now.
