Gears 5 Collectibles Guide – Act 2, Chapter 2

Gears of War fans have plenty of reason to be excited as Gears 5 is here. Starring Kait Diaz, Del Walker, JD Fenix and, of course, Marcus Fenix, the latest entry in the franchise continues the story established in Gears of War 4. Set 25-years or so after Gears of War 3, it was revealed that the Locust didn’t die and had instead evolved into the Swarm.

In Gears 5, Kait is seeking answers to her lineage, especially her connection to the Locust. Humanity is facing all-out war with the Swarm and maybe figuring out who Kait is, holds the key to stopping the Swarm once and for all.

As is standard in Gears of War, Gears 5 has collectibles for players to find in most chapters.

This guide is for Act 2, Chapter 2 – Into the Wild.

Gears 5 Collectibles

Once you reach Act 2, Chapter 2 you’ll get to Gears 5’s first “open-world” section. You’ll use the skiff to make your way across this frozen wasteland, moving from point to point and continuing the story.

The first collectible in this section is found in the train tunnel area.

After you fight the carrier, take a look around and find the train carriage that you can open (see image below). Kick the door open and grab the first collectible from inside.

Once you leave the train tunnel, keep moving along the tracks towards the lone train carriage out in the snow all by itself.

Once you get to the carriage, head inside and look for a skeleton slumped in the corner. On the right-hand side of the skeleton is a photo.

Before you continue on with the main mission — New Hope — head to the south-west part of the map, to the east of the COG Gate.

Look for an overturned vehicle and a few corpses. Near the corpses are some weapons and also the next collectible.

Finally, the last collectible is found just before you leave Act 2 and enter Act 3. If you find yourself in a cave about to drop down, you’ve gone to far.

As you enter the section for New Hope, you should see some tents and campfires. Right near the tents is a journal.

Now you’re done with Chapter 2

That’s all for Act 2, Chapter 2.

Gears 5 is available for PC and Xbox One.
