Gears 5 Collectibles Guide – Act 1, Chapter 4

Gears of War fans have plenty of reason to be excited as Gears 5 is here. Starring Kait Diaz, Del Walker, JD Fenix and, of course, Marcus Fenix, the latest entry in the franchise continues the story established in Gears of War 4. Set 25-years or so after Gears of War 3, it was revealed that the Locust didn’t die and had instead evolved into the Swarm.

In Gears 5, Kait is seeking answers to her lineage, especially her connection to the Locust. Humanity is facing all-out war with the Swarm and maybe figuring out who Kait is, holds the key to stopping the Swarm once and for all.

As is standard in Gears of War, Gears 5 has collectibles for players to find in most chapters.

This guide is for Act 1, Chapter 4 – The Tide Turns.

Gears 5 Collectibles

The first collectible of this chapter comes later than expected. After you collect the Stim upgrade for Jack and make your way through the fire in the street you’ll need to fight a bunch of Swarm.

Once the fight is over, you’ll be directed to go through the hotel. Before you go inside, go through the left most loading dock door.

Around behind some shelves through this door is the first collectible in chapter 4.

Keep going through the hotel and you’ll come to a darker section with dead COG. Leaning up against some shelves is one of these poor dead guys.

Lying on the ground to the right of him is the next collectible; COG tags.

Keep going through the hotel and you’ll eventually come to the lobby area. Here there are small lounge spaces with sofas and tables etc. Look for one with a painting that’s hanging crooked on the wall over a sofa.

Go in here and you’ll find a dead man slumped on the floor. Lying next to him is a stuffed toy.

Grab it.

From here, keep going until you get to what looks like the reception area for a conference or party. There’s a long table with baby’s bottles next to balloons and a sign that’s welcoming parents of Settlement 2.

The table is on your right, just before you need to crouch under a barricade made of furniture. On the table is the next collectible.

Once you’re in the theatre, make your way around the backstage area and keep an eye out for a dressing room. The door to the dressing room is open and inside is a poster for The New Embry.

There is a dressing table with a lamp, mirror and makeup. On this table is the next collectible.

Continue backstage and you’ll come to an area with scaffolding, lighting, a large table and hard cases. There’s also a dressing table with a mirror that has lights running around the edge of the mirror.

On this desk is a bust of a man’s head and a lighter.

The lighter is your prize.

Still backstage at the theatre, you’ll come to a left-hand turn. On your right is a long ladder attached to the wall above a stack of scaffolding on a dolly.

To the right, in the corner, on hard case is the next collectible.

A scroll prop. Grab it and move on.

That’s all for Act 1, Chapter 4. In fact, that’s all for Act 1.

Gears 5 is available for PC and Xbox One.
