Gearbox and 2K have “no details” about Borderlands on Switch

I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to quiz Gearbox and 2K on the potential of seeing Borderlands on Switch at a recent event. At the reveal of Borderlands 3 in LA, I asked Gearbox about Borderlands on Switch and was told that the idea is a good one, but there was nothing to share. With a few months passed since the reveal, I wanted to ask again.

As the Switch is now one of the biggest consoles on the planet, I asked if there were any plans for The Handsome Collection or Borderlands 3 on the handheld.

Matthew Higgins (Level Designer) deflected the question to 2K PR who were quick to say that there are no details.

Borderlands 3 Switch

As I wrote back in May;

Carl Shedd isn’t aware of any plans to bring Borderlands GOTYBorderlands The Handsome Collection or Borderlands 3 to Switch.

Oh, I don’t know actually. I don’t know. Not that I know of. Not on my side of things.

Shedd went on to say that Borderlands GOTY was great on backwards compatibility and would certainly be a lot of fun on the Switch.

I’m with you. It would be a lot of fun to have it on there.

Unfortunately, Shedd wasn’t able to confirm or deny anything about any Borderlands games on Switch. He didn’t outright say no, so at least there’s hope.

Randy Pitchford also recently responded to a fan’s query about the games coming to Switch on Twitter.

Again, this isn’t a confirmation or denial but simply shows that Gearbox likes the idea of Borderlands on Switch. For now though, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing Borderlands on Switch anytime soon.

Borderlands 3 is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on September 13.
