Rumour – Capcom Set to Remake Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 8 to go back to 3rd-Person

Take this one wih a grain of salt, but it’s being reported today that Capcom has some big plans for Resident Evil. In the wake of the incredible success of Resident Evil 2, Capcom is rumoured to be working on a remake of Resident Evil 3

Additionally, Resident Evil 8 is in development and may return to the series’ standard 3rd-person perspective as opposed to the 1st-person seen in RE7.

Twitter account, Evil VR claims to be a Capcom insider with knowledge of the inner workings of the company. In a series of tweets, Evil VR makes some interesting claims about both Resident Evil 8 and Resident Evil 3.

Resident Evil Rumours

When it comes to Resident Evil 3, Evil VR claims a remake is in the works and that it will be released before Resident Evil 8. That’s all Evil VR has to say about Resident Evil 3, but considering the success of RE2, it makes sense for Capcom to remake the next in the series.

Evil VR has much more to say about Resident Evil 8 and claims that there’s debate amongst the development team as to whether it should be a direct sequel or a spin-off from the main series. It’s also reported that due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback Resident Evil 2 received, Capcom has opted to switch back to a 3rd-person perspective.

The basic premise for Resident Evil 8 is apparently that it;

will take place in an (sic) recently-abandoned island where the secret laboratory is located. The story so far is to uncover the truth behind the creation of Eveline and more of similar bio-weapons.

Finally, Resident Evil 8 will reportedly include features that were cut from Resident Evil 4 prior to release. These include;

  • Hook Man
  • Hallucinations

Capcom is rumoured to be developing Resident Evil 8 in a way that has players questioning what is real and what’s in their mind. Evil VR goes on to say that it has nothing more to share about Resident Evil rumours and will likely have more information around E3 2019.

What do you think of these rumours? Could there be any truth to them?
