Celebrate Destiny 2 Dawning 2018 and ring in Christmas with an awesome sleigh

Christmas season is upon us with decorations and sales going up everywhere and Bungie isn’t missing a stride. The Destiny 2 Dawning 2018 holiday season event went live with the weekly reset and sees the return of vendor Eva Levante.

Eva brings the holiday spirit to the Tower with an assortment of her special baking recipes to be earned by players. All Destiny 2 players who have completed the Red War campaign and reached level 20 can participate.

No crazy Black Armory power levels required.

Destiny 2 Dawning 2018

Eva will provide the oven and some ingredients to get you started, but you will need to go out into world to gather more ingredients by defeating enemies and completing various activities in Destiny 2.

There will be two types of ingredients:

  1. Uncommon enemy ingredients — such as Vex Milk, Cabal Oil or Taken Butter which is farmed from killing enemies around the system.
  2. Rare Kill ingredients — earned by killing enemies in specific ways such as by explosions of any kind or elemental ability kills.

Once you have your ingredients, you can start combining them to create some tasty treats like Gjallardoodles or Chocolate Ship Cookies. Then players can take these goodies to vendors and characters throughout the Destinyverse to earn rewards such as:

  • Enhancement Cores
  • Mods
  • Legendary Gear
  • Avalanche Heavy Machinegun, featuring random rolls
Avalanche Heavy Machine Gun is a legendary reward from the Dawning

The Dawning Cheer Sparrow

This is undoubtedly the pinnacle of rewards from the Dawning festival. The Dawning Cheer Sparrow is the most badass Christmas sleigh I’ve ever seen and kudos to Bungie’s designers.

Earned by completing a long quest for Eva, this Sparrow is surely something most players will want to grind.

This looks absolutely worth the grind but it also comes with some special perks.

  • Glimmer Boost
While boosting, the Sparrow spawns a glimmer present every few seconds, until boost runs out. Glimmer presents burst open after a moment so that players can acquire the glimmer. Only active during the dawning.
  • Glimmer Trick
When the player lands a trick with the Sparrow, 3 to 5 glimmer presents are spawned. Only active during the Dawning.
  • Instant Summon
    Reduces Sparrow summon time significantly.

Tess and Eververse join in on the fun with double drops

Yes, Eververse has a ton of new wares for the season. As we already know, all players who are at the max level of 50 automatically earn Eververse Bright engrams with each new XP level earned through playing Destiny 2. With the Dawning, players will also earn Dawning Engrams which will drop some cool new festival specific wares.

High-five other Guardians

Everybody loves a good emote but historically, they were limited to a single guardian.
>Bungie is using the Dawning to launch brand new multiplayer emotes which work with two guardians. The first of which is, you guessed it, a high five emote

A traditional hockey throwdown emote allows you to call opposing guardians to bring it, with a dramatic drop of the hockey stick and raised fisticuffs!

Also added is a baking emote that should bring a smile on any guardians face. Having a heavily armoured Guardian gleefully putting cookies in the oven and watching them bake is awesome.

Sadly, this will only be available via purchase with Silver.

The Dawning 2018 is looking pretty exciting for the majority of players who don’t have access to other endgame activities like Black Armory. The Festival of the Lost with Amanda Holiday was a huge success and the Dawning looks like it will keep the player base entertained over the holiday.

I better get grinding for baking materials. I need that Sparrow already!
