Rastakhan’s Rumble is the final expansion for the Year of the Raven. Rastakhan’s Rumble features 135 new cards and introduces the new keyword ‘Overkill’ and two new card styles; Spirits & Loas.
Being the tenth set to be released for Blizzard’s hit collectible card game (CCG), Rastakhan’s Rumble is set to personalise each hero’s deck with new abilities and minions as well as a unique art style. Following the standard format of two new legendary cards per class, two epics, three rares and three commons.
Some of the cards were revealed based on crowd hype, and there are high hopes that the new cards will help introduce new styles of decks.
Rastakhan’s Rumble
Perhaps the most interesting card is the Warlock’s Void Contract, which destroys half of both player’s decks. Clearly aimed at breaking open the current Meta by ruining brutal combos, encouraging players to build a deck that can stand on its individual components as much as it’s overall synergy.
The Overkill keyword is quite interesting and something uniquely Trollish. Cards with the Overkill keyword trigger extra effects when they kill a minion and the damage dealt exceeds the target’s health.
Mechanics like this continue to demonstrate why Hearthstone works so well in a digital format, breaking the moulds set by traditional card games. Little has been revealed about the Loa cards, however, it has been revealed that Spirits will enjoy stealth on the first turn they are in play as well as other potent abilities.
World of Warcraft players will be familiar with the Loa. Voodoo gods revered by the Zandalari Trolls, each one of them an aspect of power and potency within their empire and faith. Each character class will be representing a Loa, much like a sports team, with markings and clothing similar to a jersey or Loa apparel.

Piggybacking off this team animosity is the new single-player game mode, Rumble Run. Choose your champion and step into the Gurubashi Arena as you prepare to do battle with eight brutal troll opponents. As you win matches you grow in power, earning the crowds favour and add new cards to your deck, can you make it all the way or will you perish, like so many others on the blood-stained sands of the arena.
Players can pre-order Rastakhan’s Rumble from now until the release on December 4, and if you grab yourself the big bundle you’ll be given the King Rastakhan Hero portrait for your Shaman, as well as the dope new card back available to all who pre-order.
But if you’re not sure, simply log in during the first week of release for a free Legendary Loa card, two spirits for the same class and no less than SIX Rastakhan’s Rumble card packs.
