Madden NFL 19 topped the Australia game charts last week

IGEA has released the sales charts for the week August 6 through August 12, 2018, and Madden NFl 19 took out the top spot across all platforms. Having only been released on August 10, this is a no small feat, showing that Madden has a dedicated following in Australia.

It wasn’t just Australia that was overtaken with NFL fever as Madden NFL 19 was also the top selling game on all platforms in New Zealand.

The Crash Bandicoot N. Sane TrilogyOvercooked 2Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Grand Theft Auto V round out the top five in Australia. In New Zealand, Crash BandicootUncharted 4God of War and Ratchcet & Clank make up the top five spots.

Wow, New Zealand really loves PlayStation.

Australia Game Charts

With Madden NFL 19 in the top spot in both Australia and New Zealand, it’s clear that we’re in somewhat of a lull at the moment. Not to detract from Madden’s achievement, however, the remainder of the top 10, with the exception of Overcooked 2, are re-releases or older titles.

Typically, the July-September period is a quieter one for video games. Towards the latter half of September, you can expect things to pick up as we start to see a slew or releases headed our way. Upcoming titles that will likely make a mark on the Australia Game Charts are;

  • Spider-man – September 7
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider – September 14
  • Forza Horizon 4 – October 2
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – October 5
  • Call of Duty Black Ops 4 – October 12
  • Battlefield V – October 19
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 – October 26

There are many more upcoming games likely to appear on the charts too, but these are my top picks for those to hit the charts and stay there. The top 10 best selling games across all platforms in Australia are below.

  • Madden NFL 19
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
  • Overcooked 2
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Grand Theft Auto V
  • The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
  • The Last of Us Remastered
  • God of War Sonic Mania Plus
  • Super Mario Odyssey
