Telltale’s The Walking Dead – The Final Season commences in August

Telltale has today announced that The Walking Dead – The Final Season will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One in August. A release for Nintendo Switch will arrive later this year.

The Walking Dead – The Final Season will include four episodes and will be a digital-only title on release. Pre-orders on PC, PS4 and Xbox One will open on June 8. For $19.99 USD, fans can pre-order The Walking Dead- The Final Season and will gain access to each of the four episodes as they’re released.

Those who pre-order on PS4 and Xbox One will also gain instant access to The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series Collection. This special collection includes all 19 existing episodes into one complete package.

The Walking Dead Final Season

PC players will get a 10% discount on the purchase price if they pre-order through Steam, GOG, GamersGate, or the Humble Store. Those who pre-order via the Microsoft Store will gain access to Season One of Telltale’s The Walking Dead.

When Episode One of The Walking Dead – The Final Season launches on August 14, 2018, all pre-order bonuses and offers will expire. If you’re keen to take advantage, make sure you do so before the game is released.

According to Telltale, The Final Season sees Clementine as a “fierce and capable survivor” as she works to protect an abandoned school and an orphan from the undead and other lurking dangers.

Clementine will need to become a leader and build a new life for her, the orphan AJ and others who follow her. As with all Telltale games, expect tough decisions and an emotional rollercoaster. Telltale is promising that The Final Season will feature;

A brand-new, over the shoulder camera has been introduced for The Walking Dead – The Final Season along with more freedom to explore and unscripted combat for the first time.

Telltale is also using what it calls the ‘Graphic Black art style’ which more closely resembles the artwork found in the pages of the comic-book series. The Walking Dead – The Final Season will support 4K and HDR on compatible devices.

A trailer for The Final Season accompanies today’s announcement featuring both Clementine and AJ. Showing the two relaxing and fishing in a stream while singing the “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” with the alternate alligator lyrics. AJ trails off as Clementine sings the line “Don’t forget to scream.”

He’s afraid to sing it because screaming brings the monsters. Clementine explains that the song comes from a time before the monsters and her and AJ share a moment before she drills him about how best to kill zombies. 

In the closing moments of the trailer, AJ explains that the final bullet must always be kept for oneself. Clementine asks AJ what to do if she’s ever bitten before the screen fades to black, an ominous, foreboding tone hanging in the air.

The Walking Dead – The Final Season will include French, German, Latin-American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese dubbing and subtitles in French, German, Latin-American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Russian, and both traditional and simplified Chinese.

The Walking Dead – The Final Season: Episode One launches on August 14, 2018.
