PC players will get a 10% discount on the purchase price if they pre-order through Steam, GOG, GamersGate, or the Humble Store. Those who pre-order via the Microsoft Store will gain access to Season One of Telltale’s The Walking Dead.

According to Telltale, The Final Season sees Clementine as a “fierce and capable survivor” as she works to protect an abandoned school and an orphan from the undead and other lurking dangers.

Clementine will need to become a leader and build a new life for her, the orphan AJ and others who follow her. As with all Telltale games, expect tough decisions and an emotional rollercoaster. Telltale is promising that The Final Season will feature;

  • An Emotional, Gut-Wrenching Story
  • More Control, More Tension
  • Striking New Visual Style

A brand-new, over the shoulder camera has been introduced for The Walking Dead – The Final Season along with more freedom to explore and unscripted combat for the first time.

Telltale is also using what it calls the ‘Graphic Black art style’ which more closely resembles the artwork found in the pages of the comic-book series. The Walking Dead – The Final Season will support 4K and HDR on compatible devices.

A trailer for The Final Season accompanies today’s announcement featuring both Clementine and AJ. Showing the two relaxing and fishing in a stream while singing the “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” with the alternate alligator lyrics. AJ trails off as Clementine sings the line “Don’t forget to scream.”

He’s afraid to sing it because screaming brings the monsters. Clementine explains that the song comes from a time before the monsters and her and AJ share a moment before she drills him about how best to kill zombies.

In the closing moments of the trailer, AJ explains that the final bullet must always be kept for oneself. Clementine asks AJ what to do if she’s ever bitten before the screen fades to black, an ominous, foreboding tone hanging in the air.

The Walking Dead – The Final Season will include French, German, Latin-American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese dubbing and subtitles in French, German, Latin-American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian, Russian, and both traditional and simplified Chinese.

The Walking Dead – The Final Season: Episode One launches on August 14, 2018.
