Yokai Watch 4 coming to Switch in 2018

Thanks to Ryokutya we have some amazing news for you. A leak reported by the Japanese games site reveals that Yokai Watch 4 is coming to Switch in 2018.

The release looks like it will only be in Japan with a western release following later.

Ryokutya is a site that leaks information from early editions of Famitsu it receives and has a very good track record when it comes to the information it releases.

Although the link above doesn’t include any sources, you can almost be sure that the information is accurate.

Yokai Watch 4 Switch

The information on Yokai Watch 4 Switch is very brief and doesn’t provide much other than the confirmation that it is coming to Nintendo’s console in 2018.

According to the leaked report yokai that appear in the game include characters from the anime like  Touma Tsukinami, Natsume Amano, Keisuke Amano, and Akinori Arihoshi.

Additionally, the information from Ryokutya states that Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said that with Yokai Watch 4 “its content is getting a super high-grade power up, including some things that will surprise everyone.”

Level-5 and Nintendo Switch

Level-5 bringing Yokai Watch 4 to Switch falls in line with what Hino has previously said about Nintendo’s console.

In an interview in March, Hino said “Basically, in the future, our main titles will all be released on Nintendo Switch. The idea is that what we have created for 3DS will move over to Switch.”

Yokai Watch has been a 3DS exclusive for years and even the most recent titles were released in Japan on 3DS in three different versions last year. While Yokai Watch 4 is definitely a great game coming to Switch, it’d certainly not the big, new game teased for Level-5’s 20th anniversary.

Hino said;

I want to properly announce a completely new title for the 20th anniversary. At the moment we may be exhausted because of the release rush from last years push-backs, but since it’s the culmination showing how hard we’ve truly worked these past 20 years, I definitely want to do it

Yokai Watch 4 is the first new Switch title from Level-5 revealed since Hino made his statements. But there are sure to be more to come.

We’ll keep an eye out and let you know.

For now, let’s celebrate Yokai Watch 4 coming to Switch.
