Destiny 2 Season of the Seraph features Rasputin, Assassin’s Creed, Moments of Triumph, The Dawning and more

Destiny 2’s Season of the Seraph has commenced today and it is absolutely stacked. As usual, the new season brings new “Seasonal activities, weekly missions that culminate to the discovery of a new Exotic weapon, a brand-new dungeon, some PvP updates, and more.”

In addition, this season, Bungie has partnered with Ubisoft to add ornaments to the Eververse which allow Guardians to cosplay as Assassins. Moments of Triumph has returned and will be live until the launch of Lightfall on 29 February 2023. The Dawning kicks off on 14 December 2022 and runs until January 3 2023.

Also being featured in Season of the Seraph is the annual Game2Give fundraising drive.

Destiny 2 Season of the Seraph

Let’s start with the big stuff. Xivu Arath is trying to take control of Rasputin and his network of Warsats. This is obviously less than ideal for the Guardians and the last city. “The Hive God of War moves to seize control of Rasputin’s network of weaponized satellites. In her hands, she would turn its devastating power on the Last City. To stop her, the Vanguard has authorized special covert operations armed with the Warmind’s most advanced weaponry. Agents conducting these operations are known as Seraphs.”

Guardians will be going behind enemy lines to infiltrate Braytech facilities in ‘Heist Bettlegrounds.’ They’ll also be taking part in weekly story missions in which they’ll be working to restore the Warmind. In addition to weekly missions and seasonal activity, players will be able to tackle the brand-new dungeon on Friday this week, 9 December 2022, provided they own either The Witch Queen Deluxe Edition of Dungeon Key.

With a new season comes changes to the Crucible. They are as follows;

  • Updating the Crucible playlist structure to streamline Crucible offerings
  • Glory is being replaced with a new ladder called Competitive Division, a 3v3 ladder with seven rank divisions
  • A new Crucible Seal, Glorious, has been added to replace the Unbroken Seal
  • Bringing engram focusing to Lord Shaxx to give players more ways to engage with Crucible rewards
  • Trails of Osiris is getting a new Hand Cannon and Machine Gun
  • Iron Banner will get a new Zone Control mode called Fortress
  • Reprised Iron Banner armour sets from The Taken King

More info on the Crucible can be found in the Nov 17 TWAB.

Bungie and Ubisoft’s collab sees “new assassin-themed ornaments for each class and brand-new items available in Eververse.” Each class has assassin gear inspired by a different assassin; Eivor (Titan), Kassandra (Hunter), and Altair (Warlock). Players can also get their hands on a new ghost, sparrow, ship and finisher.

As mentioned, Moments of Triumph is on now until the launch of Lightfall. Players can complete triumphs to earn the Seal and on doing so, unlock the ability to purchase the Moments of Triumph shirt.

When The Dawning starts on 14 December, players will be baking cookies to earn new a new Pulse Rifle as well as titles, recipes and more. A brand-new event card is also included as part of The Dawning, with players able to unlock and complete objectives on the card to unlock rewards.

Finally, The Bungie Foundation has announced the return of Game2Give. “featuring a slate of brand-new exclusive donation and fundraising incentives. To kick-off the fundraiser, we are celebrating with a two-week streaming marathon from Destiny 2 community creators from December 7th through December 20th (both AEDT).”

Destiny 2 is available now and Season of the Seraph begins today, 7 December 2022.
