Trek to Yumi, the new Akira Kurosawa inspired game from Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog, has today shown off a new gameplay trailer and release window. Expected to drop sometime in Autumn for us down under, the game is creator Leonard Menchiari’s love letter to classic Japanese cinema through the lens of modern game design. Menchiari took to the official PlayStation blog this morning to talk about the game’s origins and attention to detail, which you can read here.

Trek to Yomi Launch Window Revealed

Trek to Yomi has an instantly striking visual element to it, lifting generously from classic Japanese cinema for its look and tone. In it, we follow a young swordsman Hiroki as he forges his path forward through insurmountable odds and pressures. The gameplay looks like a cool blend of side-scrolling combat and exploration with environmental lighting and the like said to play a role in how the game unfolds.

Although this release window was announced at today’s PlayStation State of Play, Trek to Yomi will also be launching on Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows and Xbox One.
