Portal is headed to Switch this year as Valve has announced the Portal: Companion Collection. Featuring both Portal and Portal 2, Companion Collection will be released via the eShop for $19.99 USD (local pricing TBC). Portal 2 will include both local and online multiplayer (Switch Online required) and will support split-screen play too.
Portal and Portal 2 have sole a combined total of over 35 million units worldwide and this will mark their first appearance on a Nintendo platform. Developed in collaboration with NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios, Portal: Companion Collection has no release date as yet, though Valve is suggesting it will be available in late 2022.
Portal: Companion Collection
The original Portal was released as part of The Orange Box and the sequel followed shortly thereafter. Both games feature the murderous AI GLaDOS and the mind-bending portal gun which is required to solve puzzles, traverse rooms and murder innocent cubes.
Portal and Portal 2 are both over 10 years old, so they should run really well on the Switch. Both games are also highly replayable and incredibly satisfying as you struggle to solve puzzles and are taunted throughout by the ever-present GLaDOS.
I can’t wait to check out Portal on Switch. We’ll keep you updated about the release date as we learn of it.
