EPOS Audio which recently launched its global gaming campaign has announced a refresh of the iconic EPOS | SENNHEISER GSP 600 series with two new variants. The GSP 601 and GSP 602 are fresh new colourways of the classic black and red GSP 600 wired gaming headset. EPOS has gone with the old adage, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
The new headphones retain the exact same design and drivers as the GSP 600 while maintaining the tank-like build quality that looks more at home in a Blackhawk helicopter than a gaming desk.
The difference is in the colors. Let’s start with the new GSP 601 which inverts the GSP 600’s all black with white that is contrasted with black accents and interchangeable copper-colored side plates. The GSP 602 on the other hand is even more drastic. The new brandy-coloured ear covers are striking and work nicely with new glossy navy blue on the frame. These new color schemes are certainly bold, striking and I can’t decide which I like better.
Both the GSP 601 and GSP 602 carry the same tech wizardry that makes the GSP 600 excel. They both have the same closed acoustic design which gives great passive noise cancellation so you can hear your audio uninterrupted by external sound. This is combined with proprietary transducers that deliver the kind of high fidelity audio you associate with the Sennheiser name. Gamers can expect precise, clear and powerful audio in games, movies and music.
Like the GSP 600, they also have the same giant but flexible boom arm microphone that activates when lowered and can be quickly muted by simply lifting it up. The chunky volume dial on the right ear cup also returns as well as the patented solid metal hinge joint that promises a comfortable fit for long gaming sessions. There’s also the unique headband design with adjusters for varying clamping force.
And, because the GSP 600 series use and interchangeable one or two-prong 3.5mm cable, you can use the headsets with literally any device that has a 3.5 mm jack. This includes PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and smartphones. Those seeking an even higher quality output from their headsets as well as virtual surround sound, the GSP 600 series will work well with the EPOS GSX 300 and GSX 1000 external sound cards.
The EPOS | SENNHEISER GSP 601 and GSP 602 are now available on eposaudio.com/gaming at a suggested retail price of AU$319/ NZ$349.00.
