Rainbow Six Siege’s Ping 2.0 is a game-changer

As part of Operation Shadow Legacy, Rainbow Six Siege’s Year 5 Season 3, Ubisoft has announced big changes coming to the Ping system. Dubbed Ping 2.0, pinging in Rainbow Six Siege now includes context and information about which of the players on your team is doing it.

At the beginning of a match, each squad member is assigned a number, so when they ping something, you’ll know which of your teammates has done so. Not only that, when players ping cameras, drones, gadgets and the like, the ping will include contextual detail about whatever has been pinged.

It’s such a simple change, but one that has huge potential to change the way Siege is played both competitively and by the community.

Rainbow Six Siege Ping 2.0

During my hands-on with Sam “Zero” Fisher, I got a decent feel for Ping 2.0, especially when using the Argus Launcher. Having the ability to peek into any room and then ping individual enemies and items really helps in gaining intel for your team. Instead of going in blind-ish, with Rainbow Six Siege Ping 2.0, you have a much better idea of what to expect and how to counter it.

That being said, skill and gameplay still plays a huge part in success, so even with Ping 2.0, you and your team are nit infallible. EVen if you know what’s on the other side of the wall, you can still die if you don’t know what you’re doing.

Like me.

Rainbow Six Siege Ping 2.0 will be live once Operation Shadow Legacy launches.
