Microids and Oddworld Inhabitants have today announced Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, the remake of the PS1 classic Abe’s Odysee, is coming to Switch in October. First released for PS4 in 2014, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty has been released on PC, Xbox One, PS3, Vita, Wii U and mobile devices.
The Switch release includes Oddworld Inhabitants’ “critically acclaimed recipe” with “Nintendo Switch” flavour. Pre-orders are available today and will give players access to Abe on day one as he works his life away as a floor-waxer at Rupture Farms.
Overhearing his boss discuss turning the Mudokons into Tasty Treats, Abe takes a stand and works to rescue his fellow Mudokons and save them from becoming meat for the Glukkons.
Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty Switch
First announced as a remake rather than a remaster, New ‘n’ Tasty used the original game as a “blueprint” and worked from there. One of the biggest changes made to the game was the introduction of infinite scolling instead of moving between different screens. In the original game, moving in between screens would reset puzzles and allow the player to start over. In New ‘n’ Tasty the devs had to tweak enemy AI in order to give the same effect.
There’s no firm release date as yet, but Microids and Oddworld Inhabitants have announced that Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will be available on Switch in October 2020.
