Get ready for the World of Tanks SummerSlam on consoles and PS4/Xbox One cross-play

Yep, that’s right. World of Tanks on console and the WWE have teamed up. Wargaming, WWE and World of Tanks are announcing that with update 5.0, Season 1 SummerSlam! begins. Live now through September 21, this special event adds a new season pass to World of Tanks console.

Players will be able to unlock special WWE inspired tanks, WWE Superstar collectible crews, garages and more. Available on both PS4 and Xbox One, this event, however unlikely, combines two incredibly popular properties.

In this special SummerSlam! season, players will have the chance to command special WWE inspired tanks based on The Undertaker, Becky Lynch, Andre the Giant, Sgt. Slaughter and Stone Cold Steve Austin.

World of Tanks SummerSlam!

As part of the World of Tanks SummerSlam!, players will have the opportunity to redesign their garage, based on the WWE. This includes Superstar Introductions for their tanks as well as special and unique vehicle visuals for Premium Collector Tanks.

Update 5.0 will also add cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One. Players will be able to open up their gameplay experience to the other platform’s players which should lead to faster matchmaking and a more enjoyable experience.

Finally, Commander mode is back, allowing players to experience the RTS strategy of commanding tanks against a team of player-controlled units. TJ Wagner, Executive Producer of Wargaming Chicago-Baltimore said;

The update 5.0 and launch of Season 1 is probably the biggest one our team in Chicago has done in a couple of years. Partnering with WWE has been a fantastic experience and is bringing unique new content to our players, who can expect more updates like SummerSlam in the future! With update 5.0, we’re very excited to be able to address many player requests and desires for our game like cross-play that unites PlayStation and Xbox tankers, to make matchmaking faster and better.

World of Tank console is free-to-play on PS4 and Xbox One.

I've been playing games for the past 27 years and have been writing for almost as long. Combining two passions in the way I'm able is a true privilege. PowerUp! is a labour of love and one I am so excited to share.
