Outriders gives players six character slots and a shared Stash

Class based loot-shooters — Destiny, Borderlands etc — often have players who like to use multiple characters and classes in order to experience everything on offer. Nearly every Destiny player I know has a Titan, Hunter and Warlock.

So it makes sense that in Outriders, players have access to six character slots. Players will be able to choose any of the available classes to fill the six character slots and will be able to share gear between them all.

Players will have access to a Stash which can be used to store items, weapons and equipment, to free up inventory space. Each of a player’s characters can access the Stash and withdraw anything.

What isn’t clear yet, is if gear and equipment is locked to certain classes. In Destiny, for example, each of the three classes has its own armour which can’t be worn by the other two. In Borderlands 3, each character has a Class Mod, that can only be used by them and no other classes.

We know that Outriders has four classes, Trickster, Pyromancer, Devastator and a fourth unknown class, but as yet, we don’t know if armour is class specific. We do know that any character and any class can pick up any weapons, so here’s hoping everything can be shared equally.

It’s also not clear how big each character’s inventory is or how big the stash is. Anyone who’s played a loot-shooter knows the pain of having to drop something or clear out their vault in order to save something more important.

Hopefully, People Can Fly gives us plenty of storage.

Outriders is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X in 2020.
