WRATH: Aeon of Ruin runs on the original Quake engine, launches February 2021

Publisher 3D Realms and developer KillPixel Games dark-fantasy shooter WRATH: Aeon of Ruin has announced its second Early Access update today. Additionally, pre-orders for the Founder’s Edition Big Box have opened and WRATH: Aeon of Ruin will launch for Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 25, 2021.

Built using the original Quake engine, WRATH: Aeon of Ruins is “a shooter that revels in the wonderful history of the genre while adapting to modern expectations.”

As a additional nod to the past, the Founder’s Edition Big Box version of the game comes in an old-style big PC box and includes;

  • Wrath: Aeon of Ruin on CD-ROM
  • “The Art of Wrath” Art Book
  • Original Soundtrack by Andrew Hulshult
  • USB drive loaded with exclusive digital content
  • 5 Metal Enemy Figurines
  • Reversible Poster
  • Exclusive Stickers

WRATH: Aeon of Ruin

Set in the remnants of an ancient cult’s home, players will explore the tunnels underneath. Filled with all manner of monster and madness, players will need to survive the Oppressor, “a walking furnace capable of searing flesh in a flash.”

By making use of the all-new Slag Cannon, players can shoot molten metal to kill enemies and cover the ground and walls with magma.

Being in early access, means players on PC are getting updated versions of the game as they’re ready. Now, a new level, new weapon and new enemy type have been added. The developer has also released a roadmap for release with two major updates coming before February 2021.

WRATH: Aeon of Ruin is available in early access on PC now and will launch for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One on February 25, 2021.
