First XCOM: Chimera Squad screenshots revealed

Developer Firaxis and publisher 2K have announced XCOM: Chimera Squad today. The next title in the XCOM franchise, Chimera Squad is neither a sequel nor an expansion. It’s a standalone title set five years after the events of XCOM 2 and sees the new peaceful co-operation between humans, aliens and hybrids threatened by a mysterious group causing chaos in City 31.

XCOM: Chimera Squad will include 11 unique agents, specialised and complementary classes that can execute combos together, the brand-new Breach Mode, Interleaved Turns and a large, in-depth meta-game.

This new title will also help launch the franchise sale and will be available at a special introductory price of $14.95 AUD.

XCOM: Chimera Squad Screenshots

In the gallery above, you can see the first XCOM: Chimera screenshots. You can see some of the different Agent and enemy units as well as the overall art-style. While the visuals are similar to previous XCOM games, the portraits have a cartoony, almost comic-book look about them.

You can also see some of the Agents’ special moves in action as well as get some hints as to the new encounters mechanic that’s been introduced to combat.

XCOM: Chimera Squad launches on April 24, 2020.
