World of Tanks: Mercenaries celebrates six years and 20 million users with specials, giveaways and more

World of Tanks debuted on console six years ago when it was released for Xbox 360. In that time, it has been released on Xbox One and PS4 and is one of the longest-running online games on console. Since launch, World of Tanks Mercenaries has quadrupled its player numbers to reach more than 20 million players in total.

As a celebration of the game’s six years and over 20 million players, Wargaming is giving players plenty of specials, chances to win prizes, updates, discounts and a special tank.

From today until February 21, players have the chance to win a customised Xbox One X. The development team customised the console and it will be given away across World of Tanks Mercenaries’ social channels.

In addition to the console up for grabs, players will find a very special Ironclad T-29 in-game. To claim it, simply play one game and the tank is yours to keep.

The T-29 is a gift from Wargaming West as thanks to the more than 20 million players who have joined in the fun. A Tier III Medium tank with a high damage gun, the Ironclad T-29 has good mobility and weight and is described as a “rammer.”

Clan Wars will also make a return. Clans will be able to battle for gold and higher rankings.

Finally, as a Valentine’s Day gift, players will get special Valentine’s Day Ops and new Warchests that come with a 6% anniversary bonus. In the video above, you can see a special message from Wargaming’s CEO Victor Kislyi celebrating six years of Mercenaries.

Below, are some interviews with the development team and some behind the scenes knowledge of World of Tanks Mercenaries.
