Final Fantasy 14 Update 5.15 is now live

Square Enix teased Final Fantasy 14 update 5.15 last week and has today announced that the update is now live. Bringing a host of new content to the game, this minor update adds a brand-new PvP mode, the first major update for the Blue Mage and more. New job quests have been added for the Blue Mage, new furnishings for housing and a new emote have also been introduced.

The new PvP map, Onsal Hakair (Danshig Naadam) has been added to Frontline.

Frontline is a PvP challenge which engages three teams of adventurers, each team representing one of the three Grand Companies. Teams consist of up to 24 players in an alliance, allowing for a grand total of 72 players in a single battle.

Success on the frontline will depend heavily not only on individual skill, but on your ability to work as a team.

Square Enix says that the rules are “generally the same” as Seal Rock (Seize).

During battle, sacred sites called Ovoos will “assume one of four states”; inactive, Activating, Active, Claimed. Like other capture modes, players need to remain in the area of the Ovoo to capture it. If attacked while capturing, the process is interrupted.

Ovoos will also be randomly assigned a rank when activating; B, A or S. The higher the rank, the faster they increase a team’s tactical rating. Ovoos closer to the centre of the battlefield have a higher chance of being a better rank.

Six new job quests have been added for the Blue Mage and the level cap has been raised to 60. The first of which is titled “Into the Blue Again.” Players are required to be Blue Mage level 50 and can find the quest by speaking to Martyn at Ul’Dah – Steps of Thal.

Players must first complete the main scenario quest Litany of Peace and the job quest Turning Over a Blue Leaf. After completing this first new quest, players will continue on with the questline and will learn a new Blue Mage Spell.

Several new Blue Mage spells have been added and Blue Mages can also complete exclusive duties to earn weekly rewards. A Blue Mage Log has been introduced too;

Form a party of Blue Mages to conquer various dungeons and trials through teamwork and strategy using blue magic. Players can reap weekly rewards by defeating specific targets, including high difficulty “prime targets” that provide even greater bounties.

Opening the Blue Mage Log tab of the spellbook will display a list of available duties separated into three categories: dungeons, trials, and raids.

Upon clearing these duties while meeting all duty requirements, they will be marked as complete.

Completion of blue mage log entries will reward players with Allied Seals and gil, with greater rewards granted when completing duties for the first time.

In addition to the major changes, a new mount (in the gallery above) and a new minion have been added. But that’s not all. There is new content, changes, updates and more included as part of Final Fantasy 14 Update 5.15.

Final Fantasy 14 is available for PC and PS4.
