Gears 5 Collectibles Guide – Act 1, Chapter 1

Gears of War fans have plenty of reason to be excited as Gears 5 is here. Starring Kait Diaz, Del Walker, JD Fenix and, of course, Marcus Fenix, the latest entry in the franchise continues the story established in Gears of War 4. Set 25-years or so after Gears of War 3, it was revealed that the Locust didn’t die and had instead evolved into the Swarm.

In Gears 5, Kait is seeking answers to her lineage, especially her connection to the Locust. Humanity is facing all-out war with the Swarm and maybe figuring out who Kait is, holds the key to stopping the Swarm once and for all.

As is standard in Gears of War, Gears 5 has collectibles for players to find in most chapters.

This guide is for Act 1, Chapter 1 – Shot in the Dark.

Gears 5 Collectibles Guide

The very first Gears 5 collectible is located right near to where you rappel down in the beginning. Once you’re able to walk around, turn to the right and head into the alcove.

You’ll eventually come across a pair of glasses.

The next collectible is located in the opposite direction. Turn around and make your way out of the water. When you do, hug the left wall until you find a path going downwards.

You’ll find a small path that ends in a cliff. On the path is a coin.

From here continue on with the chapter until you’re inside the facility. Once inside, keep an eye on the walls. On a wall in a locker/bathroom, you’ll see a poster advertising Azura.

This is the next collectible.

Next, continue moving through the room, but before you exit, on your right-hand side are some beds with a skeleton. Next to the skeleton is a bag and between the bag and the skeleton are some COG tags.

Grab these for your fourth collectible in this chapter.

Only three to go.

From here, continue exploring the chapter. You’ll come to some offices and through the open door, you’ll be able to see the collectible on the desk.

This is a wristwatch and it sitting right there on the desk.

Go on, take it.

There are only two more collectibles to go in Act 1, Chapter 1.

Continue to move through the level. Eventually, you’ll come to some control rooms and more industrial type areas. One of these rooms will be up a short flight of stairs and will have large mounted monitors on the wall you can see from outside.

Go up the stairs and straight ahead. You’ll see the collectible on the console in front of you.

Last, but not least, collectible number seven.

As you’re getting further into the mission, you’ll come across another control room. This one is more decorated and has a few posters on the wall and a globe on the desk. You’ll need to pass through this room to continue the mission, so you can’t miss it.

On the table in front of the globe is the last collectible for Act 1, Chapter 1.

That’s all for Act 1, Chapter 1.

Gears 5 is available on PC and Xbox One.
