All New Razer Core X Chroma Gives Your Laptop Graphics an Octane Boost.

Razer has launched its newest External graphics enclosures or eGPU’s and it’s called the Razer Core X Chroma. eGPU’s give laptops the power of desktop performance with similar freedom to change graphics cards and Razers latest certainly looks compelling.

The Core X Chroma is a svelte black slab capable of fitting most PCIe graphics cards, has a beefy 700W power supply, plenty of USB ports and speedy Gigabit Ethernet. It really looks like the perfect accessory for any power user.

Razer Core X Chroma eGPU

Razer says the Core X Chroma is the most versatile external graphics enclosure on the market. It has an I/O hub at the back with 4 USB-A ports and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

Razer has included a Thunderbolt dual-chip design that easily handles graphics and peripheral data through a single Thunderbolt 3 cable.

The Core X Chroma aluminium chassis has a tool-less design that allows for easy installation of up to three slot-wide graphics cards. This is thanks to a drawer style slide and lock mechanism. The card is secured in the PCIe slot with a single thumbscrew.

The 700W power supply can power the most powerful graphics card but also gives the Core X Chroma to charge USB-C laptops wit up to 100W.

And it wouldn’t be a Razer product without Chroma lighting, would it? The Core X Chroma’s chassis is lined with two Razer Chroma RGB lighting zones that are fully customizable on Windows systems using Razer Synapse 3 software.

Windows and Mac get along

The Razer Core X Chroma is designed to work seamlessly with both Windows and Mac laptops. Windows 10 laptops require a Thunderbolt 3 port with external graphics (eGFX) support and the latest Windows RS5 update.

The Core X Chroma is compatible with most Razer laptops including the Razer Blade Stealth 13, Razer Blade 15, and Razer Blade Pro 17 (GeForce GTX 1060 version).

Mac systems require a Thunderbolt 3 port, macOS running High Sierra 10.13.4 or later with compatible AMD Radeon cards.

Price and Availability

The Razer Core X Chroma is available immediately at Razer.com and retails for an RRP of $649.00 AUD. For more information, check out the official website
