Acer held its annual global conference, next@acer in New York last week and announced a slew of exciting new products. The Predator Orion 5000 high-performance gaming desktop was one of them. Featuring 9th Gen octa-core i9-9900K processors, Z390 chipset and of course NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2080 GPU’s.
“The Predator Orion 5000 series is designed for gamers who prefer to max out their settings in and potentially dive into streaming with little-to-no impact on performance,”— Jeff Lee, General Manager, Stationary Computing, IT Product Business, Acer Inc.
In addition to that, Acer also unveiled its first LFGD or Large Format Gaming Display. The new Predator monitor is a perfect companion for the Orion 5000. It’s a 43-inch, 4K, DisplayHDR1000 monster with a 144Hz refresh rate making it one of the fastest 4K HDR panels available.
But a good gaming rig also needs good peripherals and Acer has released a few new products to round out your setup. Let’s get into it, shall we?
Acer Predator Orion 5000 Gaming PC
The Predator Orion 5000 is a mid-tower desktop PC built around Intel’s latest Z390 chipset. Its 30l tower is quite compact and will take less space on your desk without compromising thermals.
Configurations go all the way up to the powerful and overclockable Core i9-9900K processor with eight cores and 16 threads. With great power comes great heat and the Orion 5000 uses a Cooler Master CPU Liquid Cooler to keep things well in hand.
An NVIDIA Geforce RTX 2080 GPU provides the necessary gaming grunt required for 4K 60FPS gaming. The Orion 5000 packs up to 64GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory and the Easy-Swap expansion bay supports 2.5-inch form factor SATA I/II/III SSD and HDD drives.
A cool thing about the Easy-Swap is that you can, well, easily swap hard drives in and out without requiring any tools or even a reboot. And of course, the Orion 5000 has plenty of customizable RGB lighting. LightMaker gives you control over the lightbars and fans in the case to get your perfect feng-shui.
Acer Predator CG437K P LFGD Gaming Monitor
With all the power the Orion 5000 packs, a suitable gaming monitor is required and the new LFGD looks perfect for the job. It’s a 43-inch, Ultra-High definition VA panel running at a resolution of 3840 x 2160 or 4K. The monitor also has an incredibly fast 144Hz refresh rate which every PC Master race card-carrying member would celebrate.
The panel is also VESA-Certified DisplayHDR 1000 with a peak HDR brightness of 1000nits. This is well in the realm of Samsung or LG premium TV’s and you can expect good contrast and colour vibrancy.
Even better, the generous supply of ports means you can use the Predator CG437K P with consoles as well. 3HDMI ports, USB Type C and DisplayPort make the Predator CG437K P perfect for player and streamers who have both PC and console.
The Predator CG437K P also comes with a handy remote making it suitable for a living room.
Acer Predator gaming accessories
Acer also unveiled some new Predator accessories to complement their gaming machines. Here’s a quick summary:
- The Predator Cestus 330 gaming mouse — Pixart sensor for up to 16,000DPi, seven programmable buttons and RGB backlighting
- Predator Aethon 300 gaming keyboard — Cherry MX switches, Blue LED backlight and 100% anti-ghosting
- Predator Galea 311 foldable gaming headset — 3.5mm headsets with precision tuned 50mm drivers
- Predator M-Utility Backpack — carries up to 17-inch laptops with 180 degree fold-flat opening.
Pricing and availability for the Predator Orion 5000, Predator CG437K P and Predator accessories haven’t been announced for Australia/ New Zealand yet but check the official Acer website for more information.
