Yakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi doesn’t think Sakurai would want Yakuza characters in Smash Bros

In a recent interview with IGN JapanYakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi was asked if he thought Yakuza characters Kazuma Kiryu or Goro Majima would or could appear in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Nagoshi laughed at the suggestion and said;

Mr. Sakurai would not want them (laughs). It is all right if he said. But he does not want, maybe.

Kiryu and Majima would not be the first realistic human characters to appear in Smash Bros. Solid Snake was included in the Gamecube’s Smash Bros Melee. Both Ken and Ryu are borderline realistic as is Persona 5’s Joker who is due to join the game as DLC shortly.

Smash Bros Yakuza

The interview asked Nagoshi and Producer Daisuke Sato why Smash Bros’ Sakurai wouldn’t want the Yakuza charcters since Snake has already been featured.

Nagoshi said that Kiryu and Majima are different from Snake and Sato said;

The heroes of Smash Bros. movements are beyond humans movements so I’m wondering if Kazuma Kiryu can win or not. (laughs)

But it’ll be fun if that happens.

While this is sure to break the hearts of many fans hoping to see Smash Bros add Yakuza’s main characters, it makes sense when you think about it. Even so, it would still be awesome to see Kiryu and Majima beating the absolute shit out of Wario.

Right?
