Travel to Tokyo in World War Z

The upcoming PvPvZ action game from Saber Interactive, World War Z, is based on the movie of the same name and takes players across the globe. In addition to New York, Moscow and Jerusalem, Saber Interactive has just announced Tokyo as a location in World War Z.

The co-op shooter will see players travel to Japan and fight a huge number of zombies in the narrow streets and densely built-up areas of the world’s most populous metropolitan area.

At launch, players will have two missions in Tokyo with a third mission arriving for free shortly thereafter.

World War Z

World War Z is built using Saber Interactive’s Swarm Engine which renders hundreds of zombies on screen at once. The power of the Swarm Engine also enables the zombie horde to move and attack as one, while still giving each individual zombie the freedom to break from the group and attack on its own.

Players will choose from six different classes (Gunslinger, Hellraiser, Slasher, Medic, Fixer, and Exterminator) and use a wide variety of weapons, gadgets and traps to fend off the horde and survive. In addition to the campaign, players will be able to engage in multiplayer that pits player v player v zombie.

Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive said of the Tokyo level;

We’ve had such a positive response to the content that we decided to expand the core game and make four episodes spanning eleven levels available at launch.

Saber Interactive described World War Z as;

a thrilling four-player cooperative third-person shooter featuring massive swarms of zombies that recklessly rush their living prey.

Focused on fast-paced gameplay — and based on the incredibly popular Paramount Pictures property of the same name — World War Z explores new storylines and characters from around the world in tense, overwhelming, gruesomely exciting missions crafted specifically for modern consoles and PC.

As for the Tokyo mission, it’s described as follows; “Quick to respond to the global outbreak, Japan decides to evacuate the country. A volunteer search and rescue team must battle the hordes to protect the civilian population as they retreat to Tokyo harbour.”

World War Z is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 16, 2019.
