The idea of a Devil May Cry 5 Switch release is tantalising. Though, unlikely to be an easy port and more likely to be a streamed title, a Devil May Cry 5 Switch release would be a pretty good get. So what does Capcom think of this?
Well, according to an interview with Hideaki Itsuno by M! Games magazine, Devil May Cry 5 may come to Switch, but only if the Switch port of Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen sells well.
According to Itsuno, Capcom didn’t have Switch dev kits when it started work on Devil May Cry 5, so only went about developing the game for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

Given the visuals, speed and complexity of Devil May Cry 5, it seems really unlikely that it would be released on Switch without a significant downgrade. If Capcom were to release it as a streamable game, it’s not something unfamiliar.
In May 2018, Capcom released a cloud version of Resident Evil 7 for Switch in Japan. It’s not outside the realm of possibilities that it would release a cloud version of DMC5.
As for Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen, it was announced as coming to Switch in January. It will be released for Switch on April 23. This release is identical to those release for PS3 and Xbox 360 which was an expanded version of Dragon’s Dogma.
Though, Capcom is promising an improved UI experience so players will be able to clearly see text etc while playing in handheld mode. The original Dark Arisen was also directed by Itsuno, so perhaps he was simply making a joke and attempting to get players to buy another of his games.
Hopefully, that’s not the case.
