Final Fantasy 14 Shadowbringers Expansion Coming in July

The Final Fantasy 14 Shadowbringers expansion finally has a release date. Coming in July, players will experience a whole new world of Final Fantasy 14 when Shadowbringers launches. Shadowbringers will introduce a brand-new job, new playable race and a new raid series.

All of the Final Fantasy 14 Shadowbrinegrs expansion was revealed during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Paris in early February.

In addition to the all-new information revealed, fans were given a look at the Collector’s Edition and everything included within.

Final Fantasy 14 Shadowbringers Expansion

In the video above, you can see the teaser trailer for the Shadowbringers expansion. It gives you a decent overview of what’s coming in the expansion, but for more details keep reading.

The new job coming to Shadowbringers is the Gunbreaker. Fans of Final Fantasy VIII will be pleased as the Gunbreaker wields a gunblade and fills the role of the tank. Very little is known about the Gunbreaker at this stage, however, the video below gives fans a good tease.

In addition to the new job is the brand new playable race; the Viera. The Viera are the Playboy Bunnies of the Final Fantasy universe, having long rabbit-like ears and coming from Ivalice. Ivalice is featured in Final Fantasy XII and which is also featured in the brand-new raid series; YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse.

This raid series is a collaboration between guest creators Yosuke Saito and YOKO TARO who both worked on the NieR series.

In addition to the above, the following was announced and revealed;

  • ‘Trust’ System – An all-new system allowing players to tackle Shadowbringers instanced dungeons with familiar NPCs by their side (excluding dungeons requiring more than four party members).
  • New Areas – Il Mheg – a lush, awe-inspiring vale, and the Rak’tika Greatwood – a sprawling forest of ancient, towering sentinels.
  • New Beast Tribe and Primal – the pixies and their almighty regent, Titania.

You can take a look at both Il Mheg and Rak’tika Greatwood below.

Square Enix also revealed the contents of the Collector’s Edition.

The Collector’s Edition is above and includes;

  • Shadowbringers Special Art Box – A unique silver-inlaid box featuring an illustration by artist Yoshitaka Amano.
  • Dark Knight Figure – An impressive high-quality figure that features the Warrior of Darkness as a dark knight.
  • Shadowbringers Art Book – An art book featuring a wealth of illustrations and concept art used in the creation of the expansion.
  • Shadowbringers Logo Sticker Cling – A reusable vinyl cling featuring the Shadowbringers logo.
  • FINAL FANTASY XIV Playing Cards – A deck of playing cards featuring a range of artwork from A Realm Reborn through Shadowbringers.

  • In-game Baby Gremlin Minion – There is nothing more invigorating than venturing into unfamiliar lands with a baby gremlin nipping at your heels and bad-mouthing your every move.
