Gfinity Elite Series Season 2 Week 3 – Upsets and Surprises

Gfinity Elite Series Season 2 Week 3 has come and gone and oh boy, was there some crazy games.

ORDER lost their first game of CS: GO in an absolutely stomping by Ground Zero. The 16-0 domination of last year’s champions showed the Perth squad are here to compete.

With the top 3 teams on the ladder still to play each other in the final weeks of the competition, the top spot could be anyones. Well, anyone but Brisbane’s as they are currently 0 and 3 in CS: GO. Melbourne Avant continues their undefeated reign in CS: GO, beating Sydney Roar 16-13 in a match that could have easily gone to overtime.

Meanwhile, Chiefs found their first win over Brisbane Deceptors who are still without a CS: GO victory.

In the Rocket League scene, however, it was a different story.

ORDER pushed Ground Zero hard for a full set of games to take the win, proving there’s a bit of life in Melbourne Rocket League. Avant wasn’t so lucky going down 3-0 against Sydney Roar.

Roar secured their second win to put them in second place overall in the Rocket League standings. Sydney Chiefs also thrashed the poor Deceptors 3-0 to give them their first loss of the season, the Chiefs, however, remain undefeated in Rocket League.

In the Street Fighter V, ORDER managed to win their fight series against Ground Zero which sets them up nicely to secure a finals spot, having won all their matches so far.

ORDER are currently sitting tied for first with Avant Gaming, who also won their matches against Sydney Roar and remain undefeated, securing their spot in the finals too. Brisbane Deceptors remain without a victory in Street Fighter V, going down hard against the Sydney Chiefs.

It appears Brisbane is having a rough old go of it. Can they rally and fight their way back for a shot at the finals? It remains to be seen, but the Deceptors have a decent shot at the Rocket league finals.

The big surprise this week was the special visit to the HOYTS Gfinity Esports arena by famous Australia CS: GO squad Renegades, signing autographs and doing interviews. They are currently using the Arena to boot-camp ahead of upcoming tournaments.

Show your support for Australian Esports and catch the action live on TwitchYoutubeTwitter, and Facebook.

CS: GO kicks off at 3 PM Saturdays, with Rocket League starting at 11 AM Sunday and Street Fighter V at 4 PM Sundays. Rocket League will also be live on Network Ten’s Eleven from 11 AM-1 PM every Sunday.

All of Season 2’s games will once again be played live in the HOYTS Gfinity Esports Arena in the Entertainment Quarter, Moore Park Sydney. Tickets for all matches will be available in the coming weeks at www.gfinityesports.com.au.
