Today, at Gamescom, Ubisoft took the time to highlight the dangers and beauty of the world of Ancient Greece, 431 BCE. This world is one filled with myth and mystery, but also one caught up in war.
Sparta and Athens are battling each other, while the people are ruled by gods and it’s in this world that players will make their mark. Choosing either Alexios or Kassandra, players will face all manner of Legend, Monster and Myth.
At the same time, Alexios and Kassandra will be forced to battle Mercenaries and the Cult of Kosmos. These Mercenaries act as the police of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and if Kassandra or Alexios are caught breaking the law, they’ll face swift justice.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
The Mercenaries are more than just police or guards though. They’ve learned advanced and dangerous combat abilities and carry strong, deadly weapons. Sometimes, these Mercenaries can even be accompanied by a pet.
Should Kassandra or Alexios become subject to a Bounty, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Mercanries will chase them across the land and see, relentlessly.
Being set in Ancient Greece, players will face animals of myth and Legend. These mythical creatures are inspired by the stories of Hercules and include;
- Nemean Lion
- Lykaon Wolf
- Kallisto
The Nemean Lion has an impenetrable coat of golden fur, the Lykaon Wolf has been cursed by the Gods and Kallisto is a bear and mother to the Arcadians.
Ubisoft promises more mythical creatures will feature in the full game and has offered these three as a taste. Additionally, players will come face to face with other Greek Myths like Medusa.
Coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 5, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey looks like a huge step forward for the franchise.
