The next major update for Sea of Thieves is coming to PC and Xbox One next week. Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails is a free content drop that will introduce a host of new features to the game.
Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails will introduce Skeleton AI crews, a three-player ship and a limited time campaign. Players will also be able to form alliances with others.
Forming alliances will allow players to set sail on even bigger adventures and share in even bigger rewards.
Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails
Announced at E3, Sea of Thieves Cursed Sails is the first of several winter updates to the game. Cursed Sails is also the biggest update so far and is completely free for players who own the game or play it via Xbox Game Pass.
A three-week long campaign will introduce all of Cursed Sails’ new content including the marauding skeleton ships and the three-player Brigantine ship.
Pirate controlled ships will challenge players to battle on the seas and will attack outposts, while players follow a story-driven quest to find the source of the skeleton plague.
For players who want to set sail with a smaller crew, the brand-new Brigantine ship will let them take to the seas with only three players.
Once the update goes live on July 31, players will simply need to download and install it to access all of the new features.
Microsoft has stated that if you’re not able to play during the three-week campaign window, the new features will be available in perpetuity.
