Astro Bot Rescue Mission blasts off for PSVR in October

PlayStation has announced today that PSVR exclusive Astro Bot Rescue Mission is launching in October.

Japan Studio’s VR platformer will deliver 26 levels of action and some of the biggest boss battles ever. Astro Bot Rescue Mission features full, 360 degree VR gameplay coupled with pinpoint controls.

The game stars Astro, one of PlayStation’s robot mascots, as the captain of a starship, searching for his lost crew.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission

According to Creative Director and Producer, Japan Studio Nicolas Doucet;

The adventure spans across 26 levels that take the platforming genre to new heights with 360 degree VR gameplay, huge towering bosses, precise controls and a good dose of challenge and humour!

Astro Bot Rescue Mission will be available both physically and digitally from October 3, exclusively for PSVR. Those who pre-order will receive;

  • Astro Bot avatars
  • Astro Bot Rescue Mission dynamic theme
  • Astro Bot Rescue Mission full digital soundtrack

Japan Studio is one of PlayStation’s most bankable development team having worked on;

  • Bloodborne
  • Gravity Rush 2
  • The Last Guardian
  • Shadow of the Colossus

In the video below, Doucet walks players through what they can expect from Astro Bot Rescue Mission.

Players exist as themselves in the game and can interact with the world in a variety of ways to help Astro. For example, players can headbutt the world to make changes or use a huge array of gadgets that spring from the DualShock 4.

Doucet also talks about the power of verticality from using VR and the power of different viewpoints that are only available with VR.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission will launch for PSVR on October 3, 2018.
