The Witcher Roleplaying Game release set for GenCon

Developer R. Talsorian Games announced back in 2015 that it was developing a tabletop RPG of The Witcher. The Witcher Roleplaying Game is in co-operation with CD Projekt RED, which means it’s likely going to stick to the source material.

It’s now confirmed that The Witcher Roleplaying Game is in production and a limited number of copies will be available at GenCon in early August.

The pen and paper RPG is based on the incredibly popular novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski It will also be designed to feature a combat system heavily inspired by the acclaimed video games.

This gives fans who play The Witcher Roleplaying Game a chance to build characters and live out brand new adventures in the world of Geralt of Rivia.

The Witcher Roleplaying Game

The Witcher Roleplaying Game uses the Fuzion ruleset. The same system used in Cyberpunk 2020 which has been incredibly popular ever since its first edition release back in 1988.

GMs will have access to a plethora of information regarding The Witcher universe including details on what it’s like between The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

This is the official setting of the pen and paper game, which should make for some interesting quests and allow for the game to stand on its own. Players will have the option of choosing between four player races and nine classes giving players the opportunity to recreate familiar characters from the games and novels.

However, players do have the option to develop brand new personas and have them seek out glory or mischief in a world rich with lore and monsters.

For those who are not able to make to GenCon, R. Talsorian Games has promised that a PDF version of the game will be available for purchase through DriveThruRPG either during or soon after the convention.

Once the full print run has been completed, copies of the book version will be available from the R. Talsorian store.

Games have always been a big part of my life in all types of formats. I'm just as happy with a deck of cards or a bunch of miniatures as I am with a keyboard and mouse or controller. Any game where there is a little teamwork happening is usually going be my favourite. I'm very partial to a good RTS, RPG or FPS session with friends, a beer and some decent music.
