Munchkin Unicorns and Friends live on Kickstarter

The latest mini-expansion for Munchkin is now live on Kickstarter. Munchkin Unicorns and Friends is the latest expansion for the fast-paced, dungeon door kicking, backstabbing, race to level 10.

Munchkin Unicorn and Friends adds treasure and door cards focused on three themes, unicorns, undead and…cows.?

This is a light and cutesy expansion that seems well suited to the Munchkin sense of humour.

Munchkin Unicorn and Friends

Steve Jackson Games writes on the Munchkin Unicorn and Friends Kickstarter page;

Launched in 2001, Munchkin is available in over a dozen different languages and in many genres, though the classic fantasy Munchkin game — the original release — remains the most popular.

To get started, you’ll need one of the Munchkin core games. You can select from the $26, $36, or $60 reward levels in this Kickstarter project to receive a core set illustrated by Katie Cook

Additionally, as this is an expansion of an existing game, with many other expansions, it is recommended that Munchkin Unicorn and Friends is used with;

Munchkin Unicorn and Friends Art

Art for the cards has been drawn by not one, but three artists with great Munchkin pedigree.

First, we have Katie Cook who worked on Munchkin Kittens, Munchkin Puppies, the Munchkin Monster Box and the Munchkin Collectible Card Game. Cook will be illustrating the bulk of the Unicorn themed cards.

Ian McGinty is the second of the three Munchkin Unicorn and Friends artists. He has done work on many Munchkin products including the Munchkin comic books, Munchkin Hidden Treasures and the Munchkin Collectible Card Game

Ian will be illustrating most of the cow-themed cards.

Third is Len Peralta who has illustrated many cards throughout Munchkin history as well as several other games from Steve Jackson Games.

If you’re new to Munchkin, Steve Jackson Games has shared a video in which Munchkin creator Steve Jackson, appears on an episode of TableTop and plays the game with Wil Wheaton and friends.

You can watch it below, to get an idea of how Munchkin works.

With many new monsters and treasure to discover and three themes from as many great artists, this expansion should add some great new flavour and variety for just about any fan of Munchkin.

The Kickstarter is already 600% funded with plenty of stretch goals unlocked. Anyone wanting to back Munchkin Unicorn and Friends has until July 20, 2018, to do so.

Games have always been a big part of my life in all types of formats. I'm just as happy with a deck of cards or a bunch of miniatures as I am with a keyboard and mouse or controller. Any game where there is a little teamwork happening is usually going be my favourite. I'm very partial to a good RTS, RPG or FPS session with friends, a beer and some decent music.
