Hi-Rez Studios’ Realm Royale hits Steam Early Access today

Hi-Rez is getting in on the Battle Royale craze with Realm Royale hitting Steam Early Access today. Realm Royale is a unique, Hi-Rez take on the Battle Royale genre giving it a fantasy theme, different classes and even mounts.

Realm Royale begins each match with players selecting one of five classes; Mage, Engineer, Archer, Warrior and Assassin.

Each of Realm Royale’s classes has its own unique skill set and abilities which can be used in concert when playing as a team in the special Crown Royale mode. At any time in the match, players can summon their mount to quickly cross the map and jump back into the fight.

Realm Royale Early Access

As is standard in the Battle Royale genre, every round of Realm Royale begins with 100 players dropping from a zeppelin onto a huge map filled with mushrooms forests and goblin villages.

Looting is key to the Battle Royale genre and Realm Royale is no different. However, players will be able to forge their own weapons at the Forges spread throughout the map. Forges are a focal point for Realm Royale’s fighting as players battle to make Legendary Weapons or even steal those forged by others.

Realm Royale was previously known as Paladins: Battlegrounds but was spun-off and expanded after the positive reception it received at the Hi-Rez Expo in January.

Rory “Drybear” Newbrough, Realm Royale Executive Producer said;

Realm Royale’s class-based, ability-driven combat brings a new experience to the battle royale genre.

It’s a battle royale that feels like the perfect mixture of an open-world PvP MMO and your favourite hero shooter.

You can download Realm Royale free from Steam right now.
