We’ve previously reported on the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion release date as it appears on the Switch eShop. However, new information has appeared overnight, courtesy of a German Facebook page via Nintendo Everything.
The post which appeared on the German Splatoon Facebook page revealed a date of July 13 for the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion release date.
The post was quickly removed, but there are several reasons why the date could be accurate.
Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion Release Date
While the release date for the Pearl and Marina amiibo is not yet known for Australia, in North America they will be released on July 13. The announcement was made by Nintendo of America on Twitter in early March.
The only mention of the new amiibo I could find in Australia for sale was on EB Games website. The release date mentioned is TBC 2018, which isn’t at all helpful.
However, given that the amiibo has a release date of July 13 in other regions, it’s likely that Australia will follow suit.

It would make a lot of sense to have the Octo Expansion release on the same day as the amiibo so fans can get the most out of them right away. The problem is that the release date on the Switch eShop in Australia is still listed as July 31, 2018.
As we mentioned in the previous post, if the release date was unknown or not yet announced it would read ‘TBA’ like other titles on the eShop do.
The Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion is the first paid DLC for Splatoon 2 and will cost $30 AUD. The expansion includes 80 missions and new story content that will reveal greater details on Splatoon’s favourite characters.
All players who complete the Octo Expansion will unlock the ability to play as Octolings in multiplayer. The Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion is available on the Nintendo Switch eShop now and can be pre-purchased ahead of release.
Splatoon 2 Off the Hook
The image that appeared on the German Splatoon Facebook page was from an official source and did look legitimate so the release date of July 13 may very well turn out to be true.
We hope that’s the case since it’s earlier than the release date on the Switch eShop.
For now, we’ll have to be patient and play the waiting game. As soon as we know more, we’ll bring you the information.
